Family Trip to Philly and Hersey!!

We just got back from our family vacation to Philly and Hersey, PA! We were so disappointed because we were suppose to meet my good friend Katrina and her family in Langhorne, PA to go to Sesame Street, but Hurricane Irene decided to ruin our plans:-( We will have to reschedule and meet them some other time!

We left for Philadelphia on Thursday Aug. 24th and drove 8 hours to Philly. We stayed in downtown Philly, which was in walking distance from the Art Museum! We were suppose to stay two nights in Philly and then meet Katrina and her family on Sat., then go to Sesame Street on Sunday. Plans changed and we only stayed one night in Philly and headed to Hersey, PA for a night on the way home. We definitely made the most of our time in Philly. (I wish we could have drove by my Grandparents old house..I have so many memories there!..we just didn't have enough time) We arrived Thursday night and went out for some Philly's Cheese Steaks...You have never had a true cheese steak till you have tasted a Philly's...awesome! On Saturday we decided to go to the Philadelphia Art Museum, Rocky Statue, and Liberty Bell before heading to Hersey!!

Philadelphia!

When we got to the hotel Layla just had to climb on all the furniture!
Checking out the view!
Layla has to have her books with her!
  Silly Layla!
We walked to a restaurant to eat some cheese steaks!
Layla has to wear her sunglasses...Like Mommy and Daddy!
Layla Loves Books!
After dinner we walked to the Swan Fountain...Layla Loves Fountains!
A Flag from every country lined the street
 Statue outside our hotel
Friday morning before we left Philly...Layla is ready to see Rocky;-)
Walking to the Philadelphia Museum of Art...Its right behind us!
It was pretty cloudy in the morning.
The beautiful fountain/statue in front of the Art Museum!
Layla loving the fountain!

Just relaxing!
Next to the Art Museum is the Rocky statue...since in the movie the Art Museum is where Rocky ran up all those stairs;-)

Layla was amazed...it is huge!

All those steps!!
No surprise to us...Layla climbed all of them to the top!!!
Half way up!
At the top!
Of course another fountain:-)
The family on the stairs of the Art Museum!
The view from the Art Museum...beautiful!
We returned to the hotel to get our things...Layla had to go on the balcony one last time!
On our way out of Philly we stopped to see the Liberty Bell!
There was a long line so Daddy and Layla ran around...or just Layla and Daddy followed;-)
Just taking a rest...so cute!
The Liberty Bell!
We left and drove about 3 hours to Hersey! But before we left we stopped and got some Cheese Steaks for the ride....Delicious!!

Hersey, PA
You know you arrived in Hersey....Chocolate Ave;-)!
Before we went to our hotel we stopped for a free tour of Hersey's Chocolate World!
The ride was really cute...Layla loved it, of course!
When we checked in to our hotel there was a giant KitKat walking around...Layla could not get enough of him. She was laughing SO hard. We wish we had it on tape;-)
We went straight for the pool!
Layla liked this giant Bear at the hotel restaurant
Giving kisses to the scary Bear!
On Saturday morning before we left to go home we went to the Gardens at Hersey, it was overcast because of the hurricane approaching but was still beautiful. They had a children's section that was right up Layla's alley!
Such a cool chair!!

The Hersey kisses would shoot out mist randomly...Layla was surprised every time!

The butterfly exhibit..."Look at all those butterflies"
I have never seen so many beautiful butterflies!

Another fountain...this one had a ball floating in the center of the water!
Alligator chimes...and of course she has to climb on it!
 Just relaxing...for about 2 seconds;-)
You had to jump on the squares to make the chimes ring!
Layla couldn't get enough of all the statues...no need to explain, the pictures tell it all!
  Layla and Mommy
 Layla and Daddy

In the end we made the best out of a disappointing situation and still had a great time, even if half our time was spent in the Tahoe!! We look forward to the day we can actually meet our wonderful friends, the Courtnages, and go to Sesame Street!!
